How can you ensure you are using online fundraising platforms to your benefit?

Here are some important online fundraising reminders as told by the National Association of State Charity Officials (NASCO):

  • Protect your brand by establishing a policy as to who can use your name and fundraise on your behalf.
  • Know your online presence – is there peer-to-peer fundraising happening for your nonprofit, how are others representing your charity online and are there fundraising platforms you don’t want to be associated with that you need to contact to have your company removed from?
  • Before using a fundraising platform, research the fees associated, how much information you’ll receive about your donors, when donations will be deposited and what protections the platform has to prevent solicitation fraud.
